Manufacturer: Cool Components
Part#: TC-ALT-3FN
The Advanced LT 3-Fan Controller is a professional grade 3 fan temperature controller for low voltage fans used primarily in audio video and other technology based cooling applications. The unit is easy to install and configure, basically ‘set it and forget it’ for many years to come. There is independent monitoring and variable speed control for 3 separate banks of fans. This controller is intended to protect an entire system with the ability to control ventilation fans as well as spot coolers simultaneously.

Operating Modes
The unit features selectable modes with different on/off set points. Fan Modes Mode 1: On at 70°F This mode will not be used often for AV cooling, only in ‘cold rooms’ Mode 2: 80°F Use for room/closet cooling Mode 3: 90°F Used primarily for cabinet spot cooling and venting (default mode) Mode 4: 100°F Cabinet spot cooling , venting, and secondary cooling systems (backup systems) Mode 5: 110°F Primarily for secondary/backup cooling
Alarm Modes Mode 1: Off Alarm is not active Mode 2: On 115°F Alarm is active, when temp goes below this point, or by pressing the button will deactivate (if button is pressed, LED will continue to flash) Mode 3: On 125°F
*** These are all fixed set points and progressions and cannot be changed ***

Function Fan Banks are set and controlled independently Fan Modes: Mode 1 = 70°F, Mode 2 = 80°F, 3=90°F, 4=100°F, 5=110°F Alarm Modes: Mode 1 = Off, Mode 2 = 115°F, Mode 3 = 125°F Fan Speed Variance: Fans On at 50% Speed, 100% at +10°F
Installation Overview The controller is installed inline utilizing a 12V DC power supply plugged into the controller which in turn connects to the fans. When connecting, ensure polarity is correct by aligning on the cable ends, Tip to + and that the connection is secure.
Find a centralized place for the controller and ensure the fan and sensor wires can reach the desired areas to be monitored and fan locations. Place the sensors in the areas where hot air will accumulate but not directly on equipment as the fans may ramp up too fast and/or never turn off.
Preplanning the programming will save time and potential frustration. Simply take note of desired settings for each fan bank and the alarm settings.
Installation The unit should be accessible and can be mounted to a surface either with the supplied screws or other fastening methods (velcro works well but is not included). Connect the fans and power supply to the controller (ensure proper polarity). Once powered the LED should illuminate green. Each of the fan leads and sensors should be for a specific zone/component within the system, ensure the sensor corresponds to the fan!
Sensor Location & Installation: For spot cooling, mount the sensor in the vicinity of the component are cooling. For cabinet cooling, mount the sensor high in the cabinet and close to the fan unit (in or close to the airflow path).
Programming Programming is done using the button on the side of the controller. It is best to know your plan before attempting to program it. This simply means know ahead of time the desired modes/settings: Fan 1 Mode, Fan2 Mode, Fan3 Mode, Alarm Mode. To make programming easier, pay attention to the LED colors: Fan 1 = Green, Fan 2 = Red, Fan 3 = Orange
Fan Mode Programming. To enter programming mode, simply press the button and the green LED will flash and beep corresponding to the current mode (quick beeps). To change the mode, press the button corresponding to the desired mode (1 press = Mode 1...). After 1 second, the unit will beep to confirm the mode. If mode is not correct, simply re-press the button for the desired mode. Once the mode is correct, press the button for 1 second to move to Fan 2 (LED = Red), . Once program Fan 2, press the button again for 1 second to move to Fan 3 (orange LED) Unit will time out after 5 seconds or press the button for 1 second to exit programming.
Alarm Programming. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds and the green light will flash quickly and beep corresponding to the currently set mode. Press the button corresponding to the desired mode. Unit will beep corresponding to the mode and exit the same as with the fan programming. The unit will time out after 5 seconds or press the button for 1 second to exit.
Fan Mode Program Review. Quickly press the button 3 times and the unit will review the selected modes. Once entering review mode, the unit will display green for Fan 1 and beep once indicating Fan 1, then beep the current mode, once done, will automatically move to Fan 2 and LED will change to red and there will be 2 quick beeps, Fan 3, orange LED... The unit will time out after 5 seconds or press the button for 1 second to exit.
